Ice Paint Disposal

ICECO paint contains no toxic or pollutant contaminants and can be disposed in a landfill site. Recommended disposal procedures are as follows:

  • Spread sand on the parking lot - ensure that it is a large enough area so you can dump all of your ice/snow onto without spilling outside the sand/filter area.

  • Let the ice/snow melt. The paint particles will stay within the sand (which acts as a filter) and water will drain away.

  • Shovel & bag up the sand/paint debris and dump it into your garbage bins or take to a waste disposal site
  • .

    Alternatively:

  • Truck away in dump truck to landfill site.

  • It is recommended that the truck have a liner in the back of the truck to prevent spillage.

Remember: regulations can vary across the country, so please consult with your local authorities to determine the best disposal plan for your facility.

ICECO Ice paint MSDS's are available by request - please click here to request an MSDS for your ice paint.

Rink Magazine issue March/April 2008 has an excellent article "How to Dispose of Ice Paint". Also, ORFA (Ontario Recreation Facilities Association) addresses ice paint disposal as an "Emerging Ice Issue" at this link: ORFA Industry Watch 2007
